Jabra Elite Active 65t Wireless Earbuds: Perfect for a WOD

Wireless earbuds are all the rage, and some might wonder if you if even lift if you don’t have a pair. I was a little late to the wireless earbud game, as I really couldn’t find a pair that would stay put for hard metcons. I’m pleased to say that I’ve finally found a pair, and this review is going to cover all the details that make the Jabra Elite Active 65t great for crushing a WOD.

I received these earbuds about six months ago, just in time for my sprint program that I had just released. Previously, I had been using cheap, wired, headphones, and they had finally given up the ghost.

I looked around to see what was on the market, and normally I would have just bought the Apple AirPods, but I can never get their earbuds to stay in my ear. When I start to move at all, they just slide out, especially if I’m actually sweating.

Jabra Elite Active 65t with Case

Eventually, after reviewing Amazon for something that had good reviews, and looked promising, I ordered a pair of the Jabra Elite Active 65t earbuds.

Jabra Elite Active 65t Overview

These earbuds are great all around pieces of equipment. They provide excellent sound, and I’ve never had them fall out, no matter how hard I workout. The bluetooth call clarity is great, and I’ve found that I can even make phone calls from a car with the window cracked. For me, the number one consideration for earbuds was the battery life.

  • 5 hour battery life, 15 hours with case recharging
  • 2 year warranty
  • Over 7400 ratings on Amazon.com with 4 star average
  • Quad microphone for enhanced bluetooth calling clarity
  • Excellent Jabra App with equalizer

Battery Life

The earbuds themselves are good for around five hours of playback until they need to be recharged. They come with a little charging case which recharges the wireless earbuds when they are closed inside. The case provides a total of 15 hours of charging, or about three total charges. This is more than adequate for my use in the gym.

They also have a rapid charge function which gives you one hour of playback with 15 minutes of charging. I’ve yet to use this feature, but it is nice to know that you aren’t totally screwed if you forget to charge them, and you’re headed out to the gym.

Sound Quality

This, along with battery life, is the other key feature you’ll want to consider. I’m no audiophile, and to my ears they sound very clear. Of course you won’t get super strong bass from drivers this small, but I would say they are equivalent to many other earbuds I’ve used in the past.

There is one cool feature that I’ve noticed when using the App that comes with the Jabra Elite Active 65t. It allows you to change the equalizer settings to truly customize the sound for what you listen to. Want more bass? There’s a setting for that. Want more midrange to listen to audio books? There’s a setting for that as well!

While we’re talking about the App, there is another great setting that I use all the time when I run outside. You can set the earbuds to seal off outside noise, or you can allow it to pass through so you have better awareness of your surroundings.

I know many runners and cyclists that will only exercise with one earbud in, after a few close calls with weirdos, and cars on the road. This is a good in between. You can still hear loud noises, and have good quality sound.

Additional Features

These earbuds are rated as dust and sweat proof, which is a necessity for active use, especially in the outdoors. They do have Alexa, Siri, and Google assistant compatibility, which to be honest I don’t really use that often. I have tried it and it works well.

You also have the option of having your earbuds play a variety of background noises such as: white noise, rain, waterfall, and other natural noises. This can be a great feature for those working in libraries, coffee shops and other areas where concentration can be hard to come by.

Jabra also backs their earbuds with a two year warranty. I think this is great, and it allows you some piece of mind. If you have any issues with them, Jabra will take care of it. We’ve all bought electronics that lasted a grand total of two weeks, and it’s super frustrating.

These earbuds are about 30% cheaper than the AirPods, and for my money they are a much better bargain. Especially since those things never stay in my ears!

If you’re in the market for some truly wireless earbuds, that will stay put during the toughest WODs, then I can whole heartedly recommend the Jabra Elite Active 65t. I keep them in my bag all the time, and I’ve found that I rely on them more and more, from call taking, to keeping me motivated during a hard workout. Give them a shot, I bet you feel the same way about them.
